Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Ash Wednesday, March 6th this year, begins the season of Lent, the six weeks before Easter. Lent is a time the Church set aside to remember our sinful nature, seek repentance, and serve God by serving others. Daniel 9:3 states, “I turned to the Lord God, to seek help, in prayer and petition, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.” Ashes are placed on our foreheads in the sign of the cross as a reminder of the following: *A call to repentance: a physical sign that we are sinners in need of forgiveness *That God created us from the earth and when we die, we return to it. However, God so loves us that even when our bodies return to the dust, our souls are meant to live forever with Him. As we make our way through this season of Lent, we can remember that Jesus is always present with us throughout all we encounter and endure in our lives. I invite you to experience many opportunities offered this Lent to help deepen your faith life and relationship with Jesus Christ.

This year’s Lenten study will be “The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi” by Kathie Lee Gifford. We will be covering 5 of the 6 lessons included in this series.
Are you ready to begin your journey to a deeper faith? In this six-session video study, Kathie Lee invites you to join her as she visits sites in Israel that have impacted her life. As she shares her story, co-author Rabbi Jason Sobel, a messianic Jewish rabbi, provides fascinating background details that make the story of the New Testament come alive. Kathie Lee and Rabbi Sobel will take you and your group beyond the typical “Sunday school” teaching to examine the true texts of the Bible.
Something profound happens when we follow along the ancient paths in the actual places where Jesus taught, healed, lived, died, was resurrected, and ascended into heaven. As Kathie Lee and Rabbi Sobel reveal in this study, Jesus is indeed the Rock and the Rabbi whom we follow along this Road in life. And when we are introduced to the mysteries of the Word by teachers who are trained in the ancient rabbinical way, radical transformation begins to renew our hearts and minds.
Sessions we will be studying include:
March 13 – Bethlehem: Where It All Began
March 20 – Capernaum: Ministry Headquarters
March 27 – Galilee: Ministry Grounds
April 3 – Mount of Olives: The Triumphal Entry
April 10 – Jerusalem: Crucifixion and Resurrection
Anyone interested in purchasing a Book, Study Guide, or DVD is encouraged to speak to Pr. Reis who can help to order one, or individuals can place their order with Amazon.com.
Blessings on your Lenten journey,
